The Ceremony

The Civil Partnership Ceremony with the Registrar will start promptly at 2:30pm in the Library at Bletchley Park so please could you aim to arrive around 2:00pm. It's not a long ceremony so if you're late you'll have missed it! Everyone will receive a pink rose botton hole from Penny, Jonathan or Paul when you arrive at Bletchley Park for the Ceremony. There's no planned seating in the Library apart from a few reserved seats on the front row so just pick a seat with a good view on either side of the aisle. There's plenty to read if you get there early … and, before you ask, we won't be walking down the aisle!

After the Ceremony there will be photographs and a welcome drink before we go through into the ballroom to eat. If you have any special dietary requirements then please could you email im.special@11march2006.info and let us know :-)

The Evening Reception

The Evening Reception starts at 7:00pm at Bletchley Park. There will be a buffet, a bar and lots of music and disco dancing. The bar will be open until midnight.

The Dress Code

Just so you know, we'll be wearing smart black day suits. The dress code for the whole day is smart but not a Morning Suit and top hat affair. But ladies, we do like hats. Especially big pink ones. And kilts for those from foreign climes is perfectly acceptable!

The colour of the day is pink, so it would be cool if everyone could wear somewhere, something with a little pink - a tie, a hat, feather boa…? If you can't manage this then please email im.a.spoilsport@11march2006.info so we can make 'special' arrangements for you.

Photographs

There will be a photographer, and photographs will start appearing on this site a few days after 11th March. Prints will be available to order through the photographer.

If you've taken any of your own pictures it would be great if you could email them to im.a.budding.david.bailey@11march2006.info so we can put them up too.

How To Get There

Bletchley Park's address is Wilton Avenue, Bletchley, Milton Keynes MK3 6EB.

Milton Keynes is about 50 miles north of London, essentially half-way between London and Birmingham, and Oxford and Cambridge. It's right on the M1 Motorway, West Coast train line, and thirty minutes from Luton airport.

For those driving, our suggested route to Bletchley Park is to get on to the A421 Standing Way H8 from Milton Keynes towards Buckingham (or towards Milton Keynes if you're coming from Oxford or Buckingham) and at the Tattenhoe roundabout take the turning onto the B4034 Buckingham Road towards Bletchley. Stay on this road, straight across the double mini-roundabout, and then turn left into Church Green Road and first right into Wilton Avenue. The gates for Bletchley Park in front of you, at the end of Wilton Avenue. The map on the Hotel Listing page shows these roads in the bottom-left.

This route is signposted for Bletchley Park all the way from the turn off the A421 so is easy to follow and avoids the busy centre of Bletchley.

If you're travelling by train then Bletchley Park is a ten-minute walk from Bletchley train station (which is on the West Coast mainline London Euston to Glasgow) or a 15-minute taxi ride from Milton Keynes Central station. Black cabs can be hailed from the rank outside Milton Keynes Central station.

Anyone needing to book a taxi, suggested minicab companies are Skyline on 01908 222111 or Raffles on on 01908 222222.

Alternative directions are on the Bletchley Park website at http://www.bletchleypark.org.uk/content/visit/findus.rhtm.

Where To Stay

There's a lot of hotels in Milton Keynes, but none really walking distance to Bletchley Park. The closest is probably the Premier Travel Inn (MK South) at around £50 a night.

David's mum and dad and a number of other friends and family are staying at the Macdonald Parkside Hotel. It's in nice grounds about mid-point between the M1 and Bletchley Park. Standard rate is £120 per room per night for B&B but if you contact David's mum Linda there's a group booking with a discounted rate of about £100. But the more that book the more this rate is coming down!

If you're coming to the Stags' Night then the Express By Holiday Inn or Premier Travel Inn (MK East) are good choices since they're by Willen Lake and walking distance from our home. Their standard rate is £50 to £55 per room per night but I've got a group rate. Details on the Hotels page.

The 'Wedding List'

We've been together for ten years and feel registering a 'wedding list' somewhere isn't appropriate. Please don't feel that you need to get us anything but people have insisted that we give them a list. So… vouchers from John Lewis, Habitat or 'garden vouchers' would be very appreciated.

The Stags' Night

We are having a Stags' Night at our home on Friday 10th March 2006 from around 8:00pm. Both adult boys and girls are welcome. If you are attending it would probably be a good idea to bring a bottle or two and stay at the Express By Holiday Inn. This is just a ten-minute walk from where we live, over by Willen Lake. If you have the energy, we'll be having an informal champagne brunch in the morning before heading off to Bletchley Park.

Please let us know if you are coming on Friday night by sending an email to i.should.be.on.ritalin@11march2006.info.

Our address is 18 Wadworth Holme, Middleton, Milton Keynes MK10 9JR.
